Akinci Law Office is an international law firm, based in Istanbul Turkey, committed to providing high-quality legal service both in international and domestic practices. We provide specialized legal services to prominent local firms as well as to well-known corporations around the world.
Akinci Law Office has extensive and rooted experience in International Arbitration and proceedings under, among others, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Our work in the field of international arbitration has been highly commended by many respected international organizations. For example, Akinci holds the honor of being selected amongst the top 100 law firms worldwide for 2010-2018 in the Global Arbitration Review 100 and Akinci has also been listed amongst the recommended law firms in the field of dispute resolution by Legal500.
We deal with all kinds of international disputes, including among others those related to international commercial law, construction contracts, highway construction projects, energy distribution, and water and waste plant management projects.
Prof. Ziya Akinci has acted as an arbitrator and counsel in numerous ad-hoc and institutional international arbitration cases, including ones performed under the rules of ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, TRAC, ITO and others. Prof. Akinci has been acted as a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration since 2006-2018. Prof. Akinci is President of the Istanbul Arbitration Centre.
In recent years, Akinci Law Office has successfully represented, and is representing, multiple clients regarding disputes related to significant investments by these clients in among other countries several members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, an association set up after the collapse of the U.S.S.R. of former Soviet Republics. These disputes were, and are being, adjudicated before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID”), a World Bank-related arbitration tribunal, based on violations of the Bilateral Investment Treaties involved. They cover legal and factual situations unique to this particularly troubled region and we believe no law firm in the world has had more experience, and success, with ICSID arbitrations that have arisen there.
